Like most businesses, the adult industry is taking a big financial hit during the coronavirus pandemic. But porn performers are finding a silver lining in the camming world, coming up with unusual approaches to content and proving that when the going gets tough, the tough get creative.
The coronavirus came to town and shut everything down. One minute we were out, about, carrying on and engaged in day-to-day enterprise, and the next we were trapped at home, out of toilet paper and eating cold beans out of a can.
But however strict the rules of social distancing may be, there have been allowances for certain “essential” services: grocery stores remain open, as do liquor stores, cannabis delivery services (where weed is legal, of course) and pharmacies.
Also open for business: Camming services. In fact, camming services are providing a silver, if not golden, lining for an adult industry that, like most other businesses, has taken a heavy financial hit during the COVID-19 crisis.
With a captive, stimulation-starved audience, smart and ambitious cam models and adult performers have been taking measures to draw eyes—and tips—from a potentially vast audience that is equal parts horny, bored and scared.
“This quarantine has been hard,” admits redheaded performer Jayden Cole, who can be found at https://twitter.com/JaydenCole. A sensation on the feature dance circuit, Cole has seen a big chunk of her income decimated by social distancing. “I’m usually booked for two weekend gigs a month,” she says. “Those are gone for the time being.”
