The adult-entertainment industry is highly competitive. There is a niche and spot for everyone, but because of that, it can be harder to make money when there are so many talented and amazing performers. Contrary to what you may think, it is not an easy business to stay in and be consistently paid.
I had the pleasure of picking the brains of seven lovely starlets about what it’s like to combat financial struggles they have faced and how they’ve turned it around to increase profits, while keeping us coming back for more!

“This is a business, and we are the product!”
From starting in the adult industry in her early 20s to recently making a comeback after a hiatus, Luna Gray has had to remodel her strategy and mindset not just for the sake of ingenuity, but also out of necessity. “I basically restarted working in the industry as a survivor worker,” she recalls. “Fortunately, it didn’t take long to get on my feet and go to the complete opposite end of the spectrum.”
Luna notes that just because someone may have a lot of followers and/or subscribers, it isn’t an instant guarantee of success. “You quickly realize there’s 1) a lot of competition, and 2) slow seasons,” she shares. Given those two factors, Luna came up with a game plan to help her thrive. “I started treating this for exactly what it is—a business,” Luna explains. “Taking a few nude selfies and posting on the internet will not make you money; you have to hustle.”
The public, too, often adheres to the misconception that merely posting nude photos equates to cash, Luna relates. “I think outsiders have this idea that if you’re showing your body, you must be making money,” she reflects. “Unfortunately, that’s not the case, especially with so much free content available across the internet.”
So how does a performer make an impression—and, subsequently, an income—in a very crowded field? “Advertising and marketing, quality content, putting out lots of content and keeping clients happy,” Luna counsels. “Hard work, networking and visibility go a very, very long way. This is a business, and we are the product! Promote yourself and be proud of the work you put out!!”
