Turning the Page With Maitland Ward

The sexy rebel who turned the world on its ear with her mainstream-to-XXX transition has released a memoir detailing her incredible journey. And she’s not done breaking new ground yet.

Maitland Ward has conquered the entertainment world her entire career, from soap operas, beloved sitcoms and even porn! Recently, the Boy Meets World and The Bold and the Beautiful alum added a new accomplishment to her impressive résumé—becoming a published author.

I was lucky enough to pick Ward’s brain about her new book, Rated X: How Porn Liberated Me From Hollywood. Her touching (and juicy) memoir covers her experiences in both the mainstream and adult entertainment industries. Read on for our revealing conversation.

HUSTLERMagazine.com: First of all—congrats! Writing a memoir is a daunting task. Was there a specific moment when you thought to yourself that you should write this book?

Maitland Ward: I really wanted to write a book for a while now. Especially after making such a name for myself in this business in an unparalleled way. I really felt no one had my story—that of a young “Disney princess type” who really found her fairytale in porn. But, I thought it might be down the road that I’d write it until [I had] an agent [contact] me after she heard me on a podcast talking of my love of writing and wanting to share my story. We worked on a proposal for publishers, and soon I had a deal with Simon & Schuster in place. It’s been kind of a long road though. We made the deal in early 2021 so it’s fun to finally see my book really be born out there.
