Performer. Producer. Director. Entrepreneur. Advocate. And, yes, intimacy coordinator. Join us as the XXX phenomenon discusses creating safe spaces for her adult-industry colleagues.
XXX powerhouse Casey Calvert has proven her value to the adult world time and time again. Since entering the industry in 2012, she has been a performer, producer, director, entrepreneur and an advocate. Furthermore, when she’s not wearing one of these many hats, she also works behind the scenes performing a role that has become vital in both the adult and mainstream film industries: the intimacy coordinator.
Given the extremely vulnerable positions performers assume while shooting intimate scenes, their physical and emotional security should be a paramount concern for producers. While such considerations have not always been taken seriously, in a post-Me Too world both the mainstream and adult industries have taken increased steps to protect performers, to the point where many productions include intimacy coordinators as essential crew members.
HUSTLERMagazine.com spoke with Calvert about her work as an intimacy coordinator on adult and mainstream sets, as well as the distinctions of the different milieus.
HUSTLERMagazine.com: How long have you been an intimacy coordinator?
Casey Calvert: I’ve been doing this job for Dorcel for coming up on two years now. They reached out to me during their search for an American-based intimacy coordinator, and I began IC training with them shortly after. Now, I do all of their American productions; that means I do all of the Los Angeles Dorcel productions, but if for some reason they were doing a shoot in New York or somewhere else, I would probably go do that.
How have you enjoyed this type of work?
