HUSTLERMagazine.com: Do you recall when your interest in true crime began?
Sonia Harcourt: I believe it was as early as late elementary school/middle school, as Unsolved Mysteries was one of my mom’s favorite shows. As I got older and could understand the context more, I became fascinated with the psychology behind criminal behavior.
Mary Alice: I have had an interest in true crime for as long as I can remember. One of my earliest memories is watching the coverage of a parole hearing on Court TV with my mom for Leslie Van Houten, one of the members of the Manson Family [who were found] responsible for the murders of the LaBiancas. Was it a poor parenting choice to let a child watch that? Maybe, but an interest was sparked nonetheless. My mom also often referenced the Adam Walsh case when she was stressing the importance of being cautious of strangers. We also watched many episodes of Unsolved Mysteries together. I also remember being very young when the news cycle was dominated by cases like the murders of JonBenét Ramsey in 1996 and Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman in 1994. I was too young to fully grasp the situations, but I still distinctly remember the media coverage.

Are there any specific types of cases or stories that grab your interest more than others?
