It’s a Swing Thing

Meet Mr. and Mrs. Jones, the 50-something devout Christian couple behind the swinger-positive We Gotta Thing podcast.

We Gotta Thing is a highly rated, sex-positive podcast hosted by two anonymous 50-somethings from the Washington, D.C. area, a married couple on the verge of celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary together. But if you talk to “Mr. and Mrs. Jones,” you’ll find that these two are not just another pair of old pervs. Rather, they are a couple of swinging lifestyle true believers.

“We want our podcast to be positive,” Mr. Jones says, “so when a couple e-mails [us] they’ll often say, ‘We listened and your podcast isn’t really about sex.’ It’s about communication and respect and honesty, about opening your mind and not being judgmental. Those are the bedrock principles that we’re espousing through this podcast and the lifestyle.”

The Joneses fell into that provocative way of life in 2014 almost entirely by chance when, after 29 years of marriage, they booked a trip to what they knew would be a “sexy, clothing-optional” resort.

“It wasn’t anyone’s idea, and we truly stumbled into it,” the missus says, “but once you get into the lifestyle environment, you meet the most interesting people. We just felt very safe and were away from home, so it just kind of opened our mind to the possibilities.”

Mr. and Mrs. Jones characterize themselves as “mission-focused people,” so once they realized they dug the lifestyle, they wanted to investigate it. At the time, however, not a great deal of information was available for the uninitiated, which was an oversight the Joneses decided to remedy.
