Small-Town Starlets

Some of our favorite XXX performers explain what it’s like to work in the adult industry while living in close-knit communities.

When we think about where adult stars live, either Los Angeles, Miami or Las Vegas come to mind for most people, but there are a surprising number of famous performers who live in small towns! HUSTLERMagazine.com spoke with four sex work superstars about their experiences with working in the adult industry while living in small communities.

HUSTLERMagazine.com: Usually in small towns, everyone knows everyone. What have your experiences been with small-town living while being in sex work?

Goddess Gabrielle: It’s interesting! I’m pretty open with close friends and family, but anything I do online definitely circulates within the town. I’ve even had people I went to school with as clients. I recently went to my high school reunion and everyone knew what my career was. I was approached with a lot of questions and curiosity. It felt a little weird to have my career choices as a hot topic of town gossip, but overall I was flattered that people felt comfortable enough to ask me more about it.

Farrah de Rossi: I originally took a job there, so when I left that job, the whole town knew within 30 minutes. I knew I would be asked by multiple people, so I had to fib! I am a photographer and I work from home. Hmm.. I guess it’s not a total fib! But having an “acceptable” answer to those questions will inevitably help quell that nosy neighbor anxiety some may have when living in a close-knit/small community.

Aerie Saunders: I’d say I’m not a very sensitive person when it comes to having my job brought up in social situations, but it is true that everyone knows everyone, and that includes knowing everyone’s “dirty laundry.” People would try to joke around about my job pretty frequently, but I brushed it off. It was pretty easy to brush off since I was already in a middle-class tax bracket and hadn’t even graduated high school yet. A lot of people would call me by my adult performer name rather than my own name when addressing me, but honestly—I didn’t mind that much. I mean, I did pick the name myself! I’d say it was about a 50/50 split of people being supportive and others being absolute degenerates, but it also doesn’t help that I was still quite young at the time and surrounded by other individuals that had the mental complexity of a baked potato. (Most people have the mental complexity of a baked potato as a teenager!)
