MAGA edgelord and purported mega-douche Matt Gaetz, the Republican representative from Florida’s 1st Congressional District, seems to know a thing or two about getting ahead in politics: suck up to the bigger fishes, piss on the smaller ones, and always have an answer, no matter how ridiculous (such as his description of Nestor Galban, the younger brother of his ex-girlfriend, as “my son in every conceivable way,” despite a lack of blood relation or adoption proceedings).
However, now Gaetz finds himself at the center of a possible career-ending sex scandal. The New York Times reported in late March that the Justice Department is investigating whether Gaetz might have violated sex-trafficking laws. According to the Times, investigators are looking into whether Gaetz had sex with a 17-year-old girl and paid her to travel with him.
Gaetz, who has not been charged with a crime, has denied any wrongdoing and has said that he and his family had been targeted in an extortion scheme. The embattled Congressman has also said that he’s “not going anywhere” and vowed, “I have not yet begun to fight,” so it’s doubtful we’ll be hearing the last of Matt Gaetz anytime soon.
