There’s nowhere Jim Norton won’t go for a laugh. Getting his bare ass spanked by Robert De Niro on his Netflix special Mouthful of Shame? Check. Sharing with the world his penchant for analingus and sexting? Yes. Nonchalantly confessing to anyone and everyone his fondness for dating trans girls? Absolutely! He’s been a radio show host, television actor and erstwhile movie star. Still, Norton considers himself a comedian first. The notorious stand-up recently sat down with HUSTLER in New York City to talk about the importance of telling the truth and what he finds fucking funny.
HUSTLER: So what are you up to these days?
JIM NORTON: Radio, podcasts and stand-up: Jim Norton & Sam Roberts every morning, Channel 103 on Sirius XM. The Chip Chipperson Podacast on Riotcast Network Sunday nights. And I’m starting a new tour. Oh, yeah, I forgot, I do a UFC podcast twice a week with Matt Serra, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Your new Chip Chipperson Podcast is a riot. Where did that come from?
That’s a character I’ve been doing on the radio for years. Chip’s a fucking idiot, and this is what happens when an idiot has a platform. [In whiny, lispy Chip voice] “Yo, what’s up, cuz?” He tries to sound cool and hip, but he’s a douche. At first I just did him to embarrass my girlfriends— like the waiter would come along, and they would order something, and I would say loud, as Chip, “How much is that?” They’d be so embarrassed. This one girlfriend was like, “Would you stop that! People think I fuck this guy!” When I got such a strong reaction from her, I realized there was something to it. People either love Chip or hate him, but the podcast is for the hardcore fans.
And your UFC podcast, how’d that happen?
