In Her Fucking Prime?

Do women really reach their sexual peak later in life? We dive into the facts and myths surrounding the Cougar Principle.

When I was just a wee whippersnapper, I was led to believe that it was more sexually viable for a young stud to pursue an older woman—a cougar, as they are often referred to today—because they were in their sexual prime. Such seasoned ladies, it was presumed, would not only forgo the formalities of dating to have the filthiest of no-attachment sex, but they’d do it in a frisky manner that would conceivably turn a man’s nuts inside-out. Often, my friends and I would sit around outside fantasizing about the potential of such an experience while pointing out the mature women in our neighborhood that we’d wager were most likely down to pound. Some of us even volunteered to carry these women’s groceries and mow their lawns, hoping like hell that they would welcome us inside and maybe, just maybe, commence with the inverting of our testicles.

It turns out, a lot of men became convinced that setting their sights on those ladies in their sexual peak would lead to the fulfillment of all their carnal desires. “[My friends and I] were always checking out the cougars from around town,” Matthew, 45, of Ohio tells HUSTLERMagazine.com. “We always heard older women loved to fuck.”

“I had a difficult time having an orgasm in my 20s, but that all changed around the time I turned 35.”

Researcher Alfred Kinsey was the first to point out that men and women reached a zenith of horniness at different times. Guys like me bought into his spiel,if for no other reason than we needed something to believe in, and the idea that aged women were itching to screw, suck and otherwise tilt our moral compass was enticing. Yet, recently, researchers have contested Kinsey’s theory, asserting that there is no concrete measure of sexual peak. Certainly not enough to establish a clear definition. After all, the naysayers contend, it is possible for people to have great sex at any time of life. “I’m 37 and my libido is lower now than it ever has been,” a woman named Starling from Corbin, Kentucky, tells us.
