The coronavirus claimed another victim on Wednesday, when it was announced that the U.S. print edition of Playboy had been put on ice for the remainder of the year—and, it seems, for eternity, at least in its regular form.
In an open letter posted on Medium, Playboy Enterprises CEO Ben Kohn said that this year’s Spring issue, on newsstands this week, would be the final print offering of 2020.
Kohn cited the coronavirus in the letter, noting that “as the disruption of the coronavirus pandemic to content production and the supply chain became clearer and clearer, we were forced to accelerate a conversation we’ve been having internally: the question of how to transform our U.S. print product to better suit what consumers want today.”
