For six years, comedian and podcaster Chris Sowa has scoured the globe, detailing the sex scene on an international scale. We spoke with Sowa about his findings.
The reasons to enjoy Chris Sowa’s Sex With Strangers podcast (sexwithstrangersshow.com) are myriad, but perhaps one of the biggest reasons to listen is Sowa’s admiration for our own fearless leader.
“I’ve always been a big fan of the First Amendment, and Larry Flynt literally took a bullet for it,” Chris explains. “The man is one of a kind, and I’ve always appreciated his boldness and his ‘love me or fuck off’ attitude.”
Armed with such good taste, six years ago Sowa launched Sex With Strangers, a highly entertaining and highly informative podcast that has been labeled one of the genre’s best by publications ranging from Men’s Health to Women’s Health, Cosmopolitan to Maxim. When he started the podcast, the 35-year-old Chris was a stand-up comedian in Chicago, and after realizing the normal podcast routine of interviewing his fellow (not-so-famous) comedian friends probably wouldn’t fly, Sowa instead thought about sex as a focus of the show.
“So one weekend I sat down to think about how many sex topics I might be able to come up with for episodes, and I quickly had about 200 ideas,” Sowa laughs. “Then I realized I could do the show forever.”
