According to The Daily Mail, a private gynecology clinic in New York found that the missionary position with the aid of a pillow underneath the pelvis brought the most blood flow to the clit. Thus, that tried-and-true style of lovemaking was deemed the best position to achieve a female orgasm.
The research team, led by Dr. Kimberley Lovie, studied one lucky couple using an ultrasound scanner. They asked the couple to bang in five different positions for 10 minutes each and see which position caused the most clitoral blood flow.
“Pillows marketed for this intention, often referred to as ‘sex pillows’ or ‘positioning pillows,’ are usually firm and wedged shaped, providing more precise and consistent pelvic angulation than conventional bed pillows,” the researchers said, according to The Daily Mail. “In addition to increasing the amount of contact and pressure on the clitoris, pillows can increase the depth of penetration.”
