Thanks to modern science, a male birth control pill could soon be available. But will guys find it too much to swallow?
The lead-up to sexual intimacy between a man and woman can be a real rollercoaster ride. One minute he’s nibbling on her ear, whispering some Keats-like poetry that every woman longs to hear while on the brink of getting boned into oblivion. And then comes a considerably less poetic utterance: “Are you on the Pill?” Ah, yes, to let a woman know that you want to violate her innards with your testicular love juice without being shackled to her and at least 18 years of child support—man, that just oozes romance, doesn’t it?
But hey, given the unstable vibe of the times, a man can’t be too safe anymore. Hell, no! After all, the U.S. Supreme Court recently overturned the decades-old Roe v. Wade, making abortion a difficult proposition once again in the Land of the Free. Ever since the ruling, state lawmakers across the country have been making it their mission to force women to squeeze out unwanted children. This means it’s getting tougher every day for men to have meaningless sex with women they never want to see again without the risk of a fatherly commitment. That’s okay, fellas. At least women are still upholding their end of the bargain by using birth control, right?
Well…
Although birth control has been largely considered the woman’s responsibility, some ladies have sworn it off since finding out about potential side effects, ranging from hormonal imbalance to increased risk of blood clots. While these side effects are rare, they’re apparently enough to give some women pause. “I think that we’ve learned more about what it does to our bodies and hormones; women are starting to realize it shouldn’t be as normalized,” 24-year-old Elaina tells HUSTLERMagazine.com. “There is a lot of risk when taking birth control.”
