Contrary to conventional wisdom, a new study has found that men may actually be more romantic than women. Join us as we break down the science…
We’ve all been sold the tired notion that women are the more romantic of the sexes. Meanwhile, men—or so conventional “wisdom” has it, anyway—are averse to mush, mostly only showing any semblance of passion for Thursday Night Football and a heaping mess of buffalo wings. To be or not to be? All these soulless ingrates know about William Shakespeare is that his last name rhymes with beer. When it comes to love, the legend goes, the boys don’t get overly sentimental about it. They maintain a “bros before hos” philosophy about the girls in their lives, so whatever is whatever. She can stay, or she can go, it really does not matter. Now, what’s for dinner?
It’s possible, however, that the purported variance in the sexes’ propensity to ooze romance has all been a ruse. A new study from Humboldt University of Berlin finds that men, not women, are more willing to do anything for love. (Yes, even that, whatever that is.) Pulling from dozens of studies over the years, researchers revealed that guys often say “I love you” first and even take it harder when going through a breakup. These findings also show that men of all cultures are less happy in their single lives than women, a revelation suggesting that guys have been given a bad rap all these years, when all they really want is commitment. And if this might be surprising to you, some of the men we spoke to on the topic aren’t terribly shocked by the researchers’ conclusion. “I knew it,” Chris, 45, tells HUSTLERMagazine.com, when informed of the study’s findings. “No matter how good you treat them, they’re like, ‘It’s too much, too soon.’”
“Sure, they say ‘I love you’ first, but only because they’re trying to get in your pants. Date them for a few months, and they don’t even say it anymore.”
