For 20 years Sally Mullins has talked about sex in her stand-up. The raunchy comedian has performed for the troops, appeared on Lights Out With David Spade and hosts two weekly shows at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles. But only recently has she gone a step further and admitted onstage to living a double life as the comic Sally Mullins and the porn star/escort Jamie Foster.
One random weekend I signed up for a 15-minute open mic at the Fourth Wall in North Hollywood, California. I figured I’d work on new stand-up material and go home. Nothing special would happen. But that’s before Sally Mullins took the stage.
Not only did the British-born, Florida-raised 51-year-old have me roaring with laughter, but she shocked me with her wild real-life story. She openly admitted she was tired because she’d been busy escorting the night before, and I was even more surprised when she revealed that she was famous on the internet for creating “granny porn.” Throughout her set, all I could think was, I need to talk to this woman.
Cut to weeks later. The engaging blonde agreed to meet with me at a family-friendly diner in Pasadena, California. I arrive early, because I’m type-A, and wait a few minutes, watching as various wholesome-looking guests come and go. This is the type of restaurant where parents take their kids’ soccer leagues out to brunch after a big game. Then Sally walks in, wearing a black tank top that reads “Pervert.”
You don’t even need to hear her stand-up to know that Sally Mullins is a woman who doesn’t give a fuck. Her irreverence is contagious, and I can already tell that this interview is going to be fun.
HUSTLER: You’ve been doing comedy for over 20 years. How did you get started?
