Ricky Greenwood’s Big Adventure

From straight porn to trans titles, werewolf smut to nun-sploitation, Ricky Greenwood pretty much does it all in the XXX world, and with a cinematic eye for detail. The flesh-friendly auteur sits down with us to explain what makes him tick.

Is Ricky Greenwood the Paul Thomas Anderson of porn directors? To be frank, There Will Be Blood seems like a XXX erotic thriller for the ages, but right now Greenwood is too busy figuring out werewolf prosthetics to waste time comparing himself to his Oscar-winning lessers.

In just four short years, the multi-award-winning Montrealer has made a huge impression with his artiful and cinematic approach to adult entertainment. But we all have to start somewhere, usually toiling away in obscurity—that is, until someone who recognizes talent gives you a shot at glory.

For Ricky, it was when porn site Mile High Media tapped him as the Next Big Thing. Up until then, his background was primarily in mainstream entertainment, directing reality TV and docuseries. He had already tried his hand at softcore and erotica (because Quebec is sexy like that), but full-on porn was—ahem—virgin territory for the director.

Fast-forward to 2021 as Ricky prepares his upcoming feature, a passion project about werewolves, sex and other things that go “bump” in the night. Hopes are high for this latest project from the visionary who gave us Confessions of a Sinful Nun Vol. 2: The Rise of Sister Mona, Terror Camp, Talk Derby to Me and A Killer on the Loose. HUSTLERMagazine.com caught up with Greenwood for a wide-ranging chat about film, sex and spinal meningitis.

HUSTLERMagazine.com: Take us back to your first time in LA. What was that moment like for you?

Ricky Greenwood: My first time there was [to shoot] Confessions of a Sinful Nun, and I was so nervous. But the first time I visited L.A. and really enjoyed it was my second trip for the XBiz Awards. I was there for the gala and afterwards I visited Universal Studios. Growing up as a movie buff, it was insane to see all those studios and stars. I remember the big donut [Randy’s Donuts in Inglewood] from Iron Man, all those places I recognized from my favorite films. I was really impressed.
