In 2016 Adria Rae earned the editor’s choice for Best New Starlet at the NightMoves Awards, and the following year she took home the AVN Award for Best All-Girl Group Sex Scene with Melissa Moore and Elsa Jean. In the four years since, Rae has dominated literally hundreds of scenes and is now carving out a new path as a director. In this exclusive sit-down, the Michigan native discusses changing dynamics in the adult industry, her evolution from performer to director and her passion for golf and the violin.
It’s an unusually hot November morning in the heart of Porn Valley, with temperatures in the mid ’80s. We meet up with Adria Rae by her pool, but the new director soon takes us indoors for a sneak preview of a scene she recently shot for a Deeper.com project. The gorgeously filmed sequence features industry newcomer Vina Sky, veteran cocksman Small Hands and the creative drive that has allowed Rae to smoothly transition to the next phase of her career.
HUSTLER: When did you start golfing?
ADRIA RAE: When I was 13 years old. I actually started so that I could get on my dad’s good side. I was grounded at the time, and I assumed that if I learned how to play golf and I made the golf team, I could get ungrounded. It worked like a charm! I tried out when I was a freshman. I made it, surprisingly, and I ended up playing on the team for the next four years.
Do you still golf?
As much as I can, but it’s pretty miserable here in California because of how hot it is. So when I golf here, it’s usually in the fall or in the spring.
