Meat Me for Sex?

A new study suggests that eating meat in the morning makes a man more attractive to women, but is there any truth to the theory?

There is a joke that’s been making the rounds of late, and it goes something like this: A vegan and a vegetarian jump off a cliff to see who will hit bottom first. Who wins? Society, of course. Ba-dum-tiss! Although a recent Gallup poll shows that only about 4% of U.S. adults “identify” as vegetarian, with another 1% calling themselves vegan, you wouldn’t know it judging by all the social media rants that get posted from people touting the health benefits to living meat-free. They claim that consuming a diet consisting of only vegetables prevents cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia. Some studies even suggest that going plant-based reduces the risk of erectile dysfunction. Which would be great and all—really, it would—if women were only into men who eat rabbit food. It turns out, they’re not, according to a new study. Nope, they prefer to get carnal with the carnivorous.

Researchers from the University of Montpellier in France have determined that women find men whose diets consist of a fatty, protein-rich breakfast (low-glycemic) more attractive than those who might opt to grab a bagel or a piece of fruit. Meat is evidently the diet of a real lady killer, at least in the morning. Beyond that, the research further contends, men who reach for carbs later in the day also make the ladies swoon.

“I prefer a carnivore. They look healthier.”
