Composer Carvin Knowles on paying tribute to the music of classic XXX with his group’s sexy new album.
Sex-O-Rama is a brand, a series of CDs and digital albums that collect reimagined musical versions of themes and scenes from some of XXX’s finest films, including those that only exist in the dirty minds of the music’s creators.
Sex-O-Rama is also a band, comprising New Zealand adult film fanatics Carvin Knowles and Adam Pike, two dudes who know their way around VHS porn videos and the music within.
HUSTLERMagazine.com caught up with Knowles from his studio/sex dungeon in New Zealand to discuss the birth of porn funk, which XXX films have the best music, not meeting Jenna Jameson and the most pornographic thing he’s ever done.

HUSTLERMagazine.com: We imagine you have no problem being interviewed by HUSTLER?
Carvin Knowles: HUSTLER?! I was told this was Gramophone. Can you give me a minute? [Muffled] “Hello, Hugh? Yes, you sent me to HUSTLER?! You told me it was…yes…but that…I really don’t want…well…OK, I’ll trust you.” [click] I’m back. I have no problem with it at all. My label rep says it’ll be good for my career.
Do you have any history with the magazine or Larry Flynt?
