This antique image documents the complicated mating rituals of a long-forgotten generation. Decades ago, if a man wanted to ask a girl out, he’d show up at her house nude (except for a hat with rabbit ears). What followed was a complicated process of foot-sniffing, stomach-tickling and genital-mashing that was performed for an audience of the girl’s parents, her siblings and any gramophone repairman who happened to be in the neighborhood.
