Honest Until It Hurts

Kyle Kinane stands in front of people and tells jokes. People laugh. His voice is the one on Comedy Central telling you what to watch. People do what he says. He’s a very powerful man.

HUSTLER: Let’s get to it. Road sex?

KYLE KINANE: I was never into alpha-male comedy. I never use it to get laid. If anything, I’ve used my comedy to show my inadequacies with my sexuality. I mean, I spent so long not getting laid. You can’t suddenly turn around and just decide you’re going to have sex all the time. I don’t really have any active pursuit of sex. I’ve never used my work to, like, parlay that into getting vagina. That would be ridiculous. Most of my comedy is based on how poorly I perform at sex. I’ve gotten pretty good at eating pussy to make up for all the other stuff.

You have a bit in your comedy special Whiskey Icarus about not even being good at sex with yourself because you forget you’re masturbating.

Oh, that’s a total muscle memory thing. It’s like a reflex, as if saying, “What’s the least miserable or depressing thing I can do in my day….oh, this.” I was actually in the shower doing it when I thought of a really funny joke about Head & Shoulders and started laughing. Then I realized what I was actually supposed to be doing.

You grew up in Chicago. Was HUSTLER part of that?
