The NOFX frontman on the impending breakup of his band, his new classical (!!!) album and his recently opened Punk Rock Museum.
Fat Mike is a punk to the core. For four decades, he’s been the leader of smartass stalwarts NOFX. That decades-long run, alas, is winding down to an end; Mike recently announced that the band will be breaking up after their upcoming tour to celebrate the group’s 40th anniversary.
Which is a bummer for NOFX fans everywhere, but there is a bright side. Quitting his day (or is it night?) job will allow Mike to spend more time at The Punk Rock Museum, which he launched in Las Vegas earlier this year.
Fat Mike recently invited HUSTLERMagazine.com to tour the museum, which houses an impressive collection of punk memorabilia from the 1970s through today. Afterward, we sat down with Fat Mike to discuss the must-see punk tourist spot, the end of NOFX, S&M, sobriety and his first classical album, Fat Mike Gets Strung Out.
HUSTLERMagazine.com: Thank you for being on time.
Fat Mike: I put the punk in punctual.
