Erik Griffin: Workaholic

Erik Griffin is a working man’s comic. He constantly hones his craft onstage. He loves the Clippers. He loves his mother. He’ll take his movie reviews from real people over critics any day. The man who brought Workaholics’ Montez to cult status recently stopped by our cubicles to talk about the president of comedy, what it takes to make it in entertainment today and beating someone to death with a double-ended dildo. While he was here, we challenged Griffin to complete a few simple office assignments …amid some HUSTLER-style distractions. He failed miserably.


 

HUSTLER: So you were born and raised in L.A.?

ERIK GRIFFIN: Yeah, if you can believe that. Born and raised in Los Angeles. And now in the entertainment business. [Laughs.]

Did you always want to do comedy?

Funny thing is, my mom said that she asked me what I wanted to be when I was in third or fourth grade, and I said I wanted to be a comedian. I have no recollection of that. I wasn’t the class clown. I just had a knack for making people laugh, even as a kid. Then it became a thing, like, “Damn? Can I do this for real? Can I get paid?”
