Buckcherry’s Josh Todd: Still Roaring

Singer Josh Todd talks tattoos, blackouts and his band’s eleventh album, Roar Like Thunder.

Buckcherry, the undisputed kings of down-and-dirty rock anthems, have returned! For decades, the sleaze rockers—led by charismatic singer Josh Todd—have delivered blistering rock cuts including “Crazy Bitch,” “Lit Up,” “All Night Long” and “Say Fuck It.” Now they’re back with their 11th album, Roar Like Thunder.

We caught up with Todd while he was on the road in Canada to discuss everything from Trump fucking up rock ’n’ roll to his side hustle as medical vampire to what happens when you hear your own song in a strip club.

Where are you calling from?

I’m calling from Quebec, Canada. We are on a co-headlining tour with Steel Panther. We’ve been out here for over a month.

How are the Canadian audiences treating two American bands, considering Trump talking shit about annexing Canada?

That’s a great question. I don’t know how they feel personally because I haven’t really talked to them about that, but I can tell that it has affected the ticket sales in some areas in Canada. This tour should have been sold out every night. Canadians love Buckcherry. They love Steel Panther. They love American rock ’n’ roll, but… It was bad timing for us. We’ve had a great time, and a lot of the shows were sold out, but it could have been a lot better.
