As reported by The Verge, a USA Today study found that drones have been used successfully to fly contraband into federal prisons over the last several years. Popular items include phones, narcotics and—surprise, surprise—porn.
What kinds of porn are prisoners consuming exactly? A 2016 Vice web article sheds some light on the topic. Original or photocopied adult magazines are very popular and even serve as currency. Similarly, bundles of explicit printed internet photos are popular, while a phone containing downloaded adult videos can sell for upward of $500. Some prisoners even rent out magazines to “serial jackers,” while a pristine issue can fetch $200.
