There’s something kind of magical happening in Brooklyn right now—well, Bushwick to be specific, a neighborhood located in the north end of this beloved NYC borough. There a community is emerging rooted in shared values like love, communication and respect. If it sounds utopic, perhaps that’s because it kind of is—at least to anyone who has struggled with the unrelenting restrictions of sexual and romantic monogamy.
In an excellent feature for Bushwick Daily, writer Niki Davis describes the Hacienda Villa, an “intentional” sex-positive and polyamorous (read: consensual nonmonogamy) urban coterie united by shared values like how maybe, just maybe we weren’t meant to be with one person exclusively for the entirety of our adult lives.
