Bakersfield, California. Home to those who struck it rich in the oil business, Basque immigrants and descendants of poor Oklahoman farmers who migrated during the Dust Bowl. More West Texas than West Coast. Famous for independent thinkers. Conservative, but with a far-ranging wild streak. In other words, a great location for HUSTLER Hollywood. “We’re delighted to be opening the newest HUSTLER Hollywood store in Bakersfield,” founder Larry Flynt announced. “We’ve had our eye on this market for a while and think the community is really going to be excited—and even a little surprised— when it sees the wide variety of high-quality merchandise lining our shelves.”
Judging by the grand opening festivities, Bakersfield knows how to have a great time. Larry Flynt was on hand to sign autographs. There were games, giveaways and an open bar. But it was the local women who made this celebration especially memorable. All day long gorgeous contestants, including an entire busload of strippers, came in and had their photos taken to enter HUSTLER’s first Bakersfield Honey Search—for a shot at winning a $500 store shopping spree and an appearance in HUSTLER Magazine. Unable to select just one, in the end Mr. Flynt crowned two HUSTLER Honeys, Casey and Sarah, both blond Bakersfield natives. It was reported that Mr. Flynt was smiling nonstop. These pictures explain why.
