Killed!
If you’ve been swallowing mainstream news from CNN, Fox News, MSNBC or even the New York Times, you’re not getting the whole picture. Corporate-owned broadcasters and publishers suppress stories that threaten their profits and their cozy relations with secretive government agencies. Thanks to our friends at Project Censored, here’s our list of stories that Big Media was too scared to tell you.
1. OUR GOVERNMENT IS BUILDING A POLICE STATE
Using the vague justification of “national security,” the federal government is shredding our Constitutional rights. The military can now legally detain, indefinitely and without trial, any U.S. citizen the government labels a terrorist. The Obama Administration has also claimed the right to kill Americans without charges or trial, as well as seize control of the nation’s economy and resources during “emergency and non-emergency conditions.” In response to the Occupy Movement, the Secret Service can now arrest people in areas arbitrarily defined as “restricted,” and Homeland Security has even said criticizing the government is “suspicious” activity.
2. GLOBAL WARMING IS KILLING OUR OCEANS
The news has covered the recent onslaught of deadly storms, but how often do they point out that man-made, corporate-driven global warming is the cause? And how often do you hear that entire ecosystems are being wiped out? As ocean temperatures rise, sea animals are forced to migrate or perish. Global warming has caused the largest movement of marine species in more than 2 million years. Unprotected ecosystems like those in the previously healthy Mediterranean Sea are being stripped of vital resources. That means the planet’s diversity—not to mention seafood supplies—is being killed off.
3. THE FBI CREATES TERRORIST PLOTS
You’ve heard about the FBI busting terrorist plots, but what you’re not told is that the agency itself is creating most of them to trap people in sting operations. The FBI has a network of 15,000 spies infiltrating communities of suspected terrorists. Paid as much as $100,000 per assignment, these undercover agents actually assist and encourage people to carry out attacks by providing funds, weapons and a plan. Then the Feds bust those entrapped participants even though they would never have been able to plot anything without the FBI’s help.
