Your summer vacation is right around the bend—finally. After months of busting your butt at a job you hate, all you want to do is go somewhere fun, party your ass off and get laid—repeatedly. But where to go or, perhaps more importantly, where not to go? Allow us to inform your decision.
Twenty million new sexually transmitted infections are reported across the United States each year. Twenty million! Lucky for us, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) tracks STDs by city and state. So we know for a fact that Memphis, the Birthplace of Rock ’n’ Roll, ranks No. 1 for gonorrhea, followed by Philadelphia, City of Brotherly Love. Memphis also claims first place for chlamydia. Better luck next time, Anchorage, Alaska—you’re a close second! San Francisco and Atlanta top the syphilis list, and Dallas, Detroit and Washington, D.C., have the three highest rates of HIV infection. The CDC doesn’t track geographic data on herpes, crabs, HPV, yeast infections or stinky ball syndrome; you’re on your own there.
