It doesn’t feel like so long ago when we once collectively scoffed at the existence of men’s rights. To quote Leslie Knope, the stalwart bureaucrat of NBC’s Parks and Recreation, “Men’s rights is nothing.” Well, what was once a petty distraction has now blown up into a dangerous shitstorm of entitlement and misinformation. Worse, we now have to contend with the likes of Josh Hawley and the sewage hole he calls a mouth.
The Republican senator from Missouri doesn’t normally get much attention on gaming news sites like Kotaku, but that changed last November when this modern-day Hitler Youth said that men are retreating into a world of porn and video games because “traditional” masculinity is under attack. Sure, buddy…and if my grandma had wheels, she’d be a bus.
“Responsibility is one of God’s greatest gifts to mankind, and men must be held responsible for their actions,” Hawley said at the National Conservatism Conference at the tail end of October. “Still, can we be surprised that after years of being told they are the problem, that their manhood is the problem, more and more men are withdrawing into the enclave of idleness, and pornography, and video games?”
