Carol Leigh, author, artist and titan of sex worker rights activism, passed away on November 16, 2022. She was 71.
In 1979, while working out of a sex studio in San Francisco, Leigh was raped. She did not report the assault to the police, fearing this would jeopardize her workplace and thus her livelihood. This experience would become a flashpoint in her advocacy for sex worker organization.
