Much like the United States, Canada is dealing with some pretty awful stuff right now. Systemic racism, police violence and COVID are very real realities north of the border, which makes it even more important to celebrate social justice victories when they occur.
And so it is with much joy and solidarity that HUSTLER congratulates the beautiful city of Vancouver for green-lighting Canada’s first ever shelter for street-based sex workers. Launched in November, the 24-hour facility is managed by the WISH Drop-In Centre, the largest organization in Canada supporting street-based sex workers.
Amenities include 23 beds, hot showers, laundry and meals provided for free. There are even lockers, and an “outdoor safe respite area.”
