Your Friendly Neighborhood Swingers

The husband-and-wife team behind That Couple Next Door are on a mission to normalize swinging, one sex-drenched podcast episode at a time.

Of the many sex podcasts out there, more than a few focus on the swinging lifestyle. The That Couple Next Door podcast is another of that genre, although it may differ from most others in that its creators decided to start the show almost before they even knew how to swing.

“We were on a road trip to Nashville listening to so many lifestyle podcasts,” says Kay, the distaff half of the long-married 40-somethings who call themselves “That Couple Next Door.” “And I turned to Jay and said, ‘We could do this!’”

“The funny thing is that we didn’t have any experience,” explains Jay, the male member of the duo. “We’d only had like three experiences at the time, which were interesting, but we wanted to start a podcast that documented our journey from the beginning.”

That Couple Next Door cohost Kay, in a moment of restraint.

Jay and Kay’s path to podcasting glory—not to mention beaucoup swinging sex—started around 2007, when Jay was an active-duty member of the military (we salute you, sir!) deployed to Iraq. The only “sex” Jay and Kay could have at that time was via Yahoo Messenger, when Kay would send Jay sexy stories about her naughty past.

“Graphic stories!” she says, laughing.

“Graphic stories,” he confirms, with at least a soupçon of arousal evident in his voice, “like how in college she might have met a guy at a frat party and sucked his dick or something.”
