For Sasha Raee, her artistic endeavors and her adult-industry work aren’t just compatible—they’re inextricably linked. The owner of art company Femme Fatale Artistry (FFA), Sasha understands that acknowledging her sex work in her art career plays an important part in helping the public better understand adult-industry performers. “FFA is most definitely tied to my XXX industry [career]. There was a moment when I wanted to separate the two… ,” Sasha explains. “I quickly realized that it was just a fear that I had that it may have jeopardized potential mainstream grants or opportunities in the future, but I am my art and I am an adult entertainer. I also want the world to understand that adult entertainers have hobbies and interest in more than just sex.”
Since she started her business in 2020, Sasha’s artwork has helped her in numerous and healing ways, and she hopes that she can serve as an inspiration to others. “By creating FFA, I wanted anyone to know that no matter what adversities you face in life—you can do it. FFA was created because I wanted Black people to feel like they had hope and were heard,” Sasha notes. “During this trying time, there weren’t too many people that were believing in us or listening, and I just wanted to show strength to keep going in every aspect… This is to remind you that you can do anything you set your mind to.”
Not only has porn given Sasha a platform to show us all a good time, her experience in the XXX industry has also helped her with her non-adult business endeavors. “I have been and still am a one-woman show. I do my own marketing, photography and videography—to all of the admin and behind-the-scenes work, to learning how to bookkeep for yourself rather than for a corporation,” Sasha reflects. “I really learned how to operate a business from the ground up all due to starting in the industry, and I’m truly thankful for that.”
